My perceptions of media studies before i started the course were that we would mostly going to be studying about films. We have studied mostly about tv soaps and the sounds of movies which has changed my view of media studies. I feel that its more enjoyable and complexed instead of just being about movies.
The things that have gone well for me is that the case study we was studying and writing about was holyoaks which is one of my favourite soaps and tv dramas, so i didnt find the work that was set too difficult to produce and i found it quite enjoyable to write about.
i have found learning about the different lights, cameras, camera shots used in the movies and the tv programmes/soaps quite confusing and challenging to learn about and to understand and difficult to write about, but I'm gradually understanding it.
The DVD we watched in the lesson about the different sounds and techniques used for the making of the casino royale DVD made me realise how much work goes into the sounds in the movie and the effects used to make the different scenes look realistic. And the great amount of effort and detail which goes into the making of the film to make the film so exciting and successful.
Gone fishing for me was quite hard to understand but when it was explained to me, it made me realise that it was actually a really good and interesting film for just being only 10minutes. The things that i appreciated in the film was the effort the boy gave in trying to catch the fish. And the twist at the end of the funeral actually being his and the little boy being his brother who died when he was little, i found it quite sad.
